How to evaluate an unfamiliar online seller

Identify the actual seller
Marketplace names and product-brand names do not always identify the merchant responsible for fulfilling an order. Check the seller profile and whether the listing is sold directly by the retailer or by a third party. Look for a genuine company address, accessible support details and a plausible history of transactions.
Read reviews with context
A high average rating may hide repeated problems, and a single enthusiastic or angry review tells little about overall performance. Look for patterns across recent reviews: late deliveries, wrong variants, damaged packaging, refund delays or suspicious repetition. Be cautious of reviews with identical wording or unverified purchase claims.
Inspect the exact product listing
Check model numbers, dimensions, compatibility, accessories and colour. Product imagery can be illustrative or show optional accessories. Compare the written specifications with the manufacturer’s official documentation if possible. Do not infer an exact feature from the general product family name.
Find the return and refund rules
A return period may start at delivery or purchase, may exclude certain categories and may require the original packaging. Find out who pays return shipping, whether import taxes are refundable and what proof the seller may ask for. Keep these details before paying.
Treat urgent discounts cautiously
Countdown timers and crossed-out prices can encourage rushed decisions. Confirm whether a deal is actually better than comparable offerings, and distinguish verified price history from unsupported marketing claims. If details are missing, waiting is usually better than making a rushed purchase.
Make safe payment choices
Use recognized retailer checkout flows and avoid paying a seller through unrelated messages or personal bank-transfer requests.
