Start with shipping eligibility
Not every retailer sells every product into every country. Availability may differ by item, seller, fulfilment location or shipping service. Confirm the destination country before relying on a displayed price, and check whether batteries or oversized goods face additional transport restrictions.
Calculate the landed cost
Your total may include item price, shipping, import duties, sales tax, currency conversion and payment fees. Some retailers collect taxes at checkout; others require payment to a carrier or customs office after arrival. Do not assume that a “free shipping” promotion eliminates tax or customs obligations.
Currency conversions can change
A website may display a converted amount for convenience, but the card issuer or payment service can use a different rate and charge an additional fee. For fair comparison, use the same currency and include fees and the cost of returning the item when relevant.
Understand regional warranties
A warranty offered in one country may not be honoured by a repair centre in another. Some sellers offer their own limited warranty instead of the manufacturer’s international warranty. Check who pays for shipping and parts when a repair or return is needed.
Know what happens if the parcel does not arrive
Review delivery tracking, delivery estimates, refund windows and the steps required to report a missing or damaged parcel. Keep copies of order confirmations and shipping evidence. A seller or marketplace dispute process may have time limits.
